Location:  College Park, Maryland, USA

The Maryland Gravitation Theory Group announces an opening for a postdoctoral position, starting in the Fall of 2015. The position is for one year, with renewal for a second year expected, depending on the continuation of funding and satisfactory progress.

A broad range of potential research areas for this position will be considered. These include, but are not limited to, phenomenology of general relativity and modified gravity theories, black hole thermodynamics, quantum field theory in curved spacetime, quantum gravity, and ideal MHD (especially analytic methods in general relativistic force-free electrodynamics).

The Maryland Gravitation Theory Group (http://www.physics.umd.edu/rgroups/grt) overlaps with the Maryland Center for Fundamental Physics (MCFP, http://mcfp.physics.umd.edu/), which also includes particle and nuclear theory groups, and with the Joint Space Science Institute (JSI, http://jsi.astro.umd.edu/), which includes members from physics, astronomy, and NASA/Goddard.

Applications should be submitted via Academic Jobs Online, at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/4943.

Candidates should include a CV, publication list, and statement of research experience, plans, and interests, and arrange for at least three letters of reference to be submitted as well. Maryland is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
