Applications are invited for the above post to work with Dr Thomas Sotiriou on the ERC funded project “Challenging General Relativity”. The research is aimed at exploring the limits of General Relativity as a theory of the gravitational interaction. The main research areas of the research group are quantum gravity and phenomenology, alternative theories of gravity, and the strong gravity regime.

Candidates must hold or be near completion of a PhD, or equivalent, in mathematics, physics or a closely related discipline. Research experience in the field of gravity and in one of the 3 aforementioned main research areas of the group is essential.

In recognition of its commitment to promoting women in science, The University of Nottingham is one of a small number of universities to hold a Silver Athena SWAN Award.

This full-time, fixed-term post is available from 1 February 2016 until 31 July 2017.
