IISER TVM seeks applicants for one Post-doctoral position in the area of Gravitational Waves. The position is funded under the CEFIPRA/IFCPAR (Indo-French Center of Promotion of Advanced Research) bilateral grant between Archana Pai, IISER TVM and Eric Chassande-Mottin, Astro-Particule et Cosmology (APC), Paris.The position is under the project titled: “Wavelet Graph strategy for the coherent multi-detector search for compact binary coalescence”.
The appointment is for maximum two years and is expected to commence immediately. Candidates with expertise in general relativity, gravitational wave physics, and statistical signal processing are encouraged to apply. Candidates is expected to hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Astrophysics, Gravity, Gravitational Waves or related areas. Candidate with Ph.D. in Engineering faculty with sufficient experience in statistical signal processing, data science or machine learning may be considered. Candidates who have submitted the Thesis may be considered. Strong preference will be given to candidates with sufficient coding experience with C, C++ and Python. The selected candidate will visit APC, Paris and is expected to work closely with the members of APC, Paris.
Gravitational Waves group at IISER TVM is an active member of IndIGO (Indian Initiative in Gravitational Wave Observatories) and a member of LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC). The faculty members at IISER TVM involved in research in gravity are Archana Pai and S. Shankaranarayanan. The gravitational wave group has frequent visitors which include Sanjeev Dhurandhar, K. G. Arun, P. Ajith, Eric Chassande-Mottin.
