The Guelph Gravitation Group, housed in the Department of Physics at the University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada), is welcoming applications for a post-doctoral position in gravitational physics and relativistic astrophysics.
The group consists of three faculty members (Eric Poisson, Daniel Siegel, Huan Yang) who work on astrophysical applications of general relativity, including compact objects and gravitational waves. The group also includes graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and we enjoy very close ties with the Strong Gravity group at Perimeter Institute (Siegel and Yang are jointly appointed at Guelph and PI). For more information about the Department of Physics, see https://www.physics.uoguelph.ca . For more information about the Guelph Gravitation Group, see https://www.physics.uoguelph.ca/astrophysics-and-gravitation .
The position is a two-year appointment to start in the fall of 2022. The official supervisor will be Eric Poisson. Collaboration will be expected, but the postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged to develop collaborations with other researchers, both inside and outside the group. The successful candidate will have a PhD in theoretical physics or astrophysics (or in a closely related area) as well as a track record of peer-reviewed publications in research areas that are close to those of the group.
To apply, please submit
* a cover letter that explains how your research interests overlap and complement those of the Guelph Gravitation Group
* a curriculum vitae including a list of publications
* a research statement that describes your current and future goals and ask three references to send a letter of recommendation.
All materials can be emailed to epoisson[AT]uoguelph.ca .
Consideration of applications will begin on 1 December 2021, and will continue until the position is filled. We expect to conduct interviews with short-listed candidates early in January 2022, and to make an offer shortly thereafter. A response to the offer will be required by 15 February 2022.
