The Research Training Group 2575 “Rethinking Quantum Field Theory” funded by the German Research Foundation invites applications for 8 doctoral positions in theoretical physics, located at the Humboldt Universitaet zu Berlin, DESY in Zeuthen, and the Max-Planck-Institute for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam.
We are specifically seeking outstanding candidates who are enthusiastic about joining our team to delve into the realm of gravitational waves. The principal investigators leading this exciting research endeavor are Alessandra Buonanno, Jan Plefka, Jan Steinhoff, and Peter Marquard. The projects will encompass the modeling of the relativistic two-body dynamics and gravitational radiation emitted by binary systems composed of black holes and neutron stars. We will employ analytical methodologies, including post-Newtonian and post-Minkowskian theories, as well as the effective-one-body formalism. Moreover, we aim to advance these techniques by leveraging novel tools and ideas within scattering amplitudes and effective field theory.
Candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The deadline is March 8th, 2024.
