The Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme is a competitive scheme funding 2-year research fellowships across all disciplines. The Relativity Group in Dublin City University (Abraham Harte, Brien Nolan, and Peter Taylor) invites expressions of interest from potential applicants working in classical General Relativity (including the problem of motion/self-force, mathematical relativity, wave propagation in curved spacetimes) or in Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetime (including renormalisation, quantum aspects of black hole physics and cosmology).
The deadline for full applications to the IRC is 10th October 2024. To allow time for the collaborative preparation of a competitive application, those interested in the scheme should contact one of those named below by Sunday 15th September, including a short cv and a brief statement of research interests. Terms and conditions for the 2025 scheme can be found at the link above. Among other considerations, all applicants must: (i) have been awarded their doctoral degree within the five-year period before 31 May 2025. For the purposes of this condition, the date of graduation will be taken into account; or (ii) have been certified as having fulfilled within the five-year period before 31 May 2025 all the requirements for the award of a doctoral degree, including the submission of the hardbound corrected thesis, but have not yet graduated. Career breaks arising from statutory entitlements are taken into account in the calculation of this five-year period.
