Three positions for visiting researchers, Opava, Czech Republic

Applications are invited for the visiting position of Researcher at Institute of Physics, Silesian University in Opava, Czech Republic. The researcher is expected to be in residence in Opava for the duration of the position and to contribute to the research activities carried out at the university. There will be no teaching duties associated with the position, however the researcher is expected to take active role in various seminars or conferences organized and to interact with the faculty members and graduate students in his/her area. English is foreseen as the main language of communication. The researcher will have a mentor prof. RNDr. Zdenek Stuchlik, CSc. or doc. RNDr. Gabriel Torok, Ph.D. from the Institute of Physics.

On the starting date of the position the applicant must meet the following requirements:
* hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in astrophysics, theoretical physics or a related field while fulfilling on of the following conditions:
** incoming holders of a Ph.D. degree obtained abroad, of a nationality other than Czech, who are not residents of the Czech Republic or who have not spent more than 12 months in the Czech Republic in the last 36 months;
** Ph.D. degree holders of Czech nationality who have long-term experience abroad. Long-term foreign experience can be considered to be at least 12 consecutive months out of the last 36 months, either in the form of doctoral studies abroad or employment at a foreign scientific institution, or a combination.
* have authored at least 3 publications in impacted journals in the field of physics or astrophysics;
* knowledge of general relativity, computational physics and numerical methods.

Open position A:
* we are seeking a visiting researcher with excellent knowledge of neutron stars, pulsars, or magnetars. Expertise in the evolution and populations of neutron stars, X-ray astronomy (including timing or spectra), or gravitational waves is highly desirable but not mandatory.

Open position B:
* experience with numerical simulations using GRRMHD, data processing, programming in C and Python;

Open position C:
* experience with analytical and numerical modelling of astrophysical processes;
* experience with numerical simulation of both linear and non-linear systems (e.g. GRRMHD, optical effects, particle-in-cell, ionized plasma, QNM,…), data processing, programming;

Salary and Work benefits:
the researcher will receive a monthly remuneration of 54 000 CZK brutto + opportunity for exceptional bonuses. The salary is supposed to cover all expenses.
