University College Dublin (Ireland) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Theoretical and Gravitational Physics, with a focus on non-linear phenomena.

The successful candidate will work with Dr Christiana Pantelidou and be funded through a Royal Society – Science Foundation Ireland grant. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in black holes in AdS, the AdS/CFT correspondence, QNM computations, and with some competence in numerical computations. Candidates will have ample opportunities to collaborate with the broader Relativity Group at UCD, and will also be encouraged to pursue their own research topics.

The appointment is for two years, starting on October 1, 2025 (or earlier). The salary will be at the level of an SFI New Post-Doctoral Researcher (~ 43 kEUR gross salary per annum) and comes with additional research and travel funds.

The Relativity Group at UCD consists of 4 faculty members (Prof Adrian Ottewill, Dr Barry Wardell, Dr Niels Warburton, Dr Sarp Akcay), 2 senior research fellows (Dr Christiana Pantelidou, Dr Chris Kavanagh), 2 postdoctoral fellows (Dr Susanna Barsanti, Dr Brad Cownden) and 6 PhD students. Together they form a vibrant and friendly research group.

We strive to build a diverse and inclusive environment and welcome applications from traditionally underrepresented groups.

Interested applicants can apply through the Joint European System indicating University College Dublin (UCD) as their preference. When filling in the application form, you will be asked to include your CV, your research plan and a list of three referees. Applications should be made before the 30th of November 2024.
