Researchers interested in numerical relativity/strong gravity are strongly encouraged to apply for the UArizona Bok Postdoctoral Fellowship. Strong gravity researchers at UArizona include: Vasileios Paschalidis (numerical relativity), Sam Gralla (strong gravity and electromagnetism) and Chi-kwan Chan (Event Horizon telescope). There are also opportunities to collaborate with the SAGUARO group that performs follow-up observations of gravitational wave sources. See details for the fellowships below.
Applications are solicited for the Bart J. Bok Fellowship in Astronomy and Astrophysics at Steward Observatory, University of Arizona. This postdoctoral fellowship provides an opportunity for a recent Ph.D. recipient to pursue an ambitious program of research in any area of theoretical, experimental, or observational astronomy or astrophysics.
The University of Arizona, Department of Astronomy/Steward Observatory (DA/SO) offers a world-class research environment in space science and astrophysics with strong interdisciplinary instrumentation programs across the Departments of Astronomy, Physics, Optical Sciences, and Planetary Sciences. We provide direct access to various world-class observational and computational facilities for ground-based radio and optical/IR observing. All of the observational and computational facilities of the DA/SO are available to the Fellow, who is encouraged to conduct independent research and to develop collaborations with faculty, staff and students.
The Bok Fellow will receive an annual stipend as well as access to a generous research fund to support their scientific program. This 3-year Fellowship commences in Fall 2025. Candidates must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. in Astronomy or a related field before the start date of the Fellowship.
