The Instituto de Ciencias Nucleares (ICN) at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions (Investigador Asociado C) within the Department of Gravitation and Field Theory, in one or more of the following research areas:
* Classical and Quantum Gravitation, Including Numerical Relativity
* Cosmology and Astronomy
* Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Field Theory
* Elementary Particles and Hadrons
* Mathematical Physics
* Complex Systems
* Artificial Intelligence Applied to some of the topics mentioned above
We seek a highly motivated and promising scientist to contribute to the Institute’s research and teaching activities, fostering academic excellence and innovation.
The salary is competitive, and we will support applications for an additional payment package from Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores, or SNII. The position also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical insurance (public and private) for the researcher and their immediate family, life insurance, and access to a pension and housing fund.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
* Conduct cutting-edge research in their field of expertise.
* Develop and lead independent research projects, including securing external funding.
* Collaborate with faculty members and research groups within ICN and across other institutions.
* Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
* Supervise and mentor undergraduate, M.Sc., and Ph.D. students.
* Contribute to the academic and administrative responsibilities of the Institute.
* Collaborate with the institutional science outreach activities.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
* A Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Data Science, or a closely related field.
* A strong track record of research accomplishments, evidenced by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.
* At least two years of postdoctoral experience.
* A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in academia.
* Proficiency in written/spoken Spanish and English or a willingness to become proficient within a reasonable time frame.
The following qualifications are desirable but not required for early-career researchers:
* Proven ability to secure external research funding.
* Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level.
