Evolved LISA Consortium: information and sign-up

More info:  external link

After the adoption of the LISA mission by ESA in January 2024 the LISA Consortium has gone through a transition period in which a Consortium Constituent Council prepared the evolution of the consortium to match the organisation and data policy of the mission. The consortium does not directly provide components to the mission but is a scientific collaboration working together to maximize the scientific return of LISA, in particular using the open LISA data. The consortium is ex officio represented in the ESA/NASA LISA Science Team. With this email we want to inform you about this transition and the options to join the LISA Consortium .

In the evolved LISA Consortium there are two types of members: core members who commit to deliverables for the consortium (or the LISA mission – those working on hardware, DDPC, NSGS, etc.) and community members who want to be involved and informed. The work of the consortium is organised in working groups and the consortium is overseen by a representative council and led by a management team that includes a spokesperson and the science team representative. The Consortium registration link and more information about the new structure and the transition can be found on the LISA Consortium website. https://www.lisamission.org/team/

We have been transitioning the members of the existing consortium and now welcome sign-up from the rest of the community. Prior to signing up as a core member, please make sure you understand the commitments and benefits of core members (e.g. no preferred data access, commitment to spend time on consortium projects, and yearly review of activities).

Additionally, please read the Membership Quick Guide linked from the registration page (and attached here) in all its parts, where you can find an explanation of all the entries of the form and subsequent steps. Note that becoming a consortium member does not happen upon approval of your sign-up: depending on your type of membership, more steps may be required. In particular, users become core members only when their pledge is submitted and approved, not when they sign up.

We look forward to welcoming colleagues to the new LISA Consortium!

Best regards,

Jonathan Gair and Deirdre Shoemaker
(On behalf of the LISA Consortium transition council)
