Long-time editor Bala R. Iyer hands over responsibilities

Piotr T. Chrusciel has been appointed new Editor-in-Chief of Living Reviews in Relativity taking over responsibilities from Bala R. Iyer who has led the journal for 9 years.

As a founding board member of Living Reviews, Bala R. Iyer has served as Associate Editor for Gravitational Waves since 1999 and took over the lead from Bernard Schutz in 2016. He has been Endowed Visiting Professor at the The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and previously held a professorship at the Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bengaluru, India. Bala Iyer is also Council Chairman of the Indian Initiative in Gravitational-wave Observations (IndIGO) Consortium, and helped to pave the way for the LIGO-India project.

Piotr T. Chrusciel has been Professor of Gravitational Physics at the University of Vienna, Austria and currently holds an affiliation with the Beijing Institute for Mathematical Sciences and Applications, China, and the Center for Theoretical Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw. He joined the editorial board of Living Reviews in 2016 as Associate Editor for Mathematical Relativity, and thus will ensure continuity while taking over the position of Editor-in-Chief. Piotr T. Chrusciel has published 150 peer reviewed articles, is the author of the book “Geometry of Black Holes” (OUP 2020), and a co-author of the Living Review “Stationary Black Holes: Uniqueness and Beyond” (2012).
