Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates with interests in basic science and astrophysics for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position for two years with a possibility of extension by one more year with a starting date from September 15th, 2025 or later to work on a project with the title “A Data-Driven Reconstruction of the Hierarchy of Black Hole Formation and Evolution over Cosmic Time Using Gravitational Waves” in the research group of Dr. Suvodip Mukherjee, Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, Government of India. The candidate must possess Master’s degree (Post Graduate Degree in Basic Sciences) or Graduate/Post Graduate degree in Professional Course, and should qualify for at least one National level Eligibility Test such as CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship, GATE, National Level Examination conducted by Central Government Dept. and their Agencies, and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc., IISER, TIFR, etc.
The candidate needs to have proficiency in both analytical and numerical calculations and sound knowledge in coding using Python and C/C++/Fortran. The position comes with a salary as per the JFR scheme of the Government of India, with a Housing Rental Allowance, and the possibility to join and work in the national and international collaborations as per the requirements for this project.
