We are looking for a PhD student to work at Center for Theoretical Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. The 4-year position is a part of a Weave-UNISONO funded project conducted in collaboration with the University of Vienna. The student will work under the supervision of Dr. Mikolaj Korzynski.
The research will investigate the propagation of light and gravitational waves in curved spacetimes, with a particular focus on gravitational lensing phenomena beyond the geometrical optics approximation. The PhD student’s primary tasks will involve the numerical application of ray-tracing techniques in strong-field regimes and the computation of lensed waveforms.
We expect the candidate to have: MSc in physics, astronomy or compatible, good programming skills and experience in numerical methods as well as independence and creativity in problem solving.
