We are offering a 4-year post-doc position financed by the project Weave-UNISONO “Lensing of electromagnetic and gravitational waves”. The PI of the project is dr hab. Mikolaj Korzynski. The research will be conducted in collaboration with the group of Dr. Marius Oancea from the University of Vienna.
The Center for Theoretical Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Polish-Austrian Weave-UNISONO project, “Lensing of Electromagnetic and Gravitational Waves.” The successful candidate will work with PI Dr. hab. Mikolaj Korzynski and collaborate with Dr. Marius Oancea’s group at the University of Vienna.
The research will explore optical drift effects close to caustics, lensing of gravitational and electromagnetic waves beyond geometrical optics by strong gravitational field and methods of computing the effects of propagation of waves in curved spacetimes using the Wigner function approach.
We are looking for a candidate with a recognized PhD degree (obtained not earlier than in 2018) in astronomy, theoretical physics or a compatible field. Additionally, experience in any of the following three: gravitational lensing, numerical methods in gravitational lensing, raytracing, gravitational waves, will be an additional advantage.
The position is for one year, renewable annually for up to four years based on performance and funding. The hiring process will conclude by November 30, 2025, with a preferred start date in early December 2025.
