The newly established Center for the Cross-disciplinary Research of Space Science and Quantum-technologies (CROSS-Q), College of Physics, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China, is seeking postdoctoral researchers in the field of gravitation with focus on black hole physics (broadly defined), gravitational waves, and cosmology. Special considerations will be given to:
[1] Candidates with strong background in cross-disciplinary research with space science and/or quantum physics, e.g., testing gravity theories or aspects of gravitational physics in space-based experiments such as satellite platforms.
[2] Candidates with specialties in primordial black hole research.
[3] Candidates with specialties in quantum aspects and thermodynamics of black holes and gravity in general, especially in the phenomenology of possible experimental/observational signatures.
[4] Candidates with specialties in wormholes and/or exotic faster-than-light solutions (e.g. “warp drives”) in general relativity or modified gravity, and who are interested in possible observational signatures of said technologies.
Applicants should have (or expected to obtain by starting date) a Ph.D. in the relevant fields to receive full considerations. We offer a 2-year contract starting from September 2026. Earlier starting date can be negotiated on a case by case basis.
Successful applicants are expected to collaborate with members of the center (faculties on the gravity side include Prof. Ya-Peng Hu, Prof. Yen Chin Ong, and Associate Professor Yu-Sen An), but they are otherwise free to pursue their own research interests. There is no teaching duty.
Interested candidates should submit the following documents in a SINGLE PDF file to crossq[AT]nuaa.edu.cn :
(1) A full curriculum vitae.
(2) A copy of PhD certificate.
(3) A full publication list, with five most significant/representative publications clearly highlighted.
(4) A brief description of research interests, including future plans, not exceeding 1 page.
We do NOT require recommendation letters at this stage of the application. Candidates who have successfully passed the interview round would eventually be required to arrange 2-3 recommendation letters to be sent to the same E-mail address. Completed applications should be received no later than December 31, 2025.
