The Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (http://tdli.sjtu.edu.cn) is a national research institute named after the renowned Chinese-American physicist Tsung-Dao Lee (Nobel Prize 1957). TDLI is devoted to fundamental research and graduate training in astrophysics, particle physics, and condensed matter physics. The TDLI astrophysics division currently has 20 faculty members: 16 in astrophysics and 4 in plasma physics (including laboratory astrophysics). TDLI/SJTU is building 4.4-meter spectroscopic telescope, to be completed in early 2027, for time-domain science (e.g., supernovae and other transients), cosmology, and exoplanets.

The TDLI astrophysics division works closely with the astronomy department at SJTU (http://astro.sjtu.edu.cn/en/). Current faculty members are active in exoplanets and dynamics, high-energy/particle astrophysics, galactic/extragalactic astronomy, and cosmology, with projects in observations, theory, statistics, computation, and instrumentation.
