We are pleased to announce a workshop titled “From black holes to the cosmos: Matt Visser’s journey through space and time”, to be held at the SISSA Miramare Campus in Trieste, Italy, from 24 to 28 August 2026, in a lovely location few steps from the Miramare castle and park.
The workshop will focus on current research at the interface of gravitation, geometry, and quantum theory, including (but not limited to) quantum field theory in curved spacetime, semiclassical gravity, modified gravity, cosmology, analogue gravity, and exotic spacetime geometries. While the meeting is motivated by Matt Visser’s 70th birthday, it is conceived as a research-focused international conference highlighting current developments and open problems in these areas.
Formal registration, including details on fees, financial support, and contributed talks/posters, will open on 21st of March 2026.
Further information, including confirmed speakers, and updates will be posted on the conference website.
We warmly encourage interested researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and PhD students to attend the meeting.
