The goal of this online course is to introduce students to the modern physics of black holes. The first part of the lectures will review the classical physics of black holes as described by general relativity. Then, the formalism of quantum field theory on curved spacetime and its implications (Hawking radiation, entropy area law) will be discussed. The second part of the course will revolve around black holes in quantum gravity. The final part of the course by guest lecturer Prof. Miguel Montero will be an introduction to the Swampland program and application of it to understand and study black holes.
