The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Tufts University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in theoretical cosmology, starting September 1, 2015. We seek candidates with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics and relevant postdoctoral experience who have an outstanding record of research at the interface of cosmology and fundamental physics, including particle physics and general relativity. Preference will be given to applicants who would enhance our existing research program in cosmology. Current areas of research in the program include topological defects, inflationary cosmology, and quantum effects in gravitational fields.
The new hire will be expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, to develop a vigorous independent program of research including the guidance of Ph.D. students, and to secure research funding.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. or equivalent and relevant postdoctoral experience, outstanding record of innovative research at the interface of fundamental physics and cosmology.
